For a plain Subject Matter Expert we consider this role to be outside the Business Analysis domain. This role can interface with a Business Analysis engagement especially where the role is performed by the client. In combination with Information Analysis and Business Process Analysis this role is covered by the Business Analyst role as described earlier.
